PHILIPSBURG — Josiah Jones has been named Executive Director at Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership in Philipsburg.
Jones vacated his position as Vice President of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships at Happy Valley Adventurer’s Bureau at the end of the year. Jones joined HVAB in the fall of 2022.
Prior to joining the HVAB, Jones served as the executive and marketing director for the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority, also known as Visit Clearfield County. Jones has public relations and business development experience in the behavioral health field.
“I am honored to announce that I have accepted the position of Executive Director at the Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership,” Jones said in a recent statement on his LinkedIn profile.
“I am eager to work alongside Board President Dr. Karen Blair and our dedicated board of directors to continue the organization’s mission of business retention, entrepreneurial development, and regional attraction.”
A native of the region and a long-time advocate for rural economic vitality, he has spent his career building partnerships, supporting local businesses, and advancing initiatives that strengthen communities across Central Pennsylvania.
“We are thrilled to welcome Josiah into this role,” said Karen Blair, MVEDP Board President. “His vision, energy, and deep commitment to the Moshannon Valley make him the ideal leader to guide the Partnership into its next phase of growth. We are confident he will continue to expand opportunities for businesses, residents, and the broader region.”
As Executive Director, Jones will oversee the MVEDP’s strategic initiatives, business retention and expansion programs, industrial park development, and regional marketing efforts. He will also work closely with local, county, and state partners to attract new investment and support the long-term economic health of the Moshannon Valley.
“I am honored to step into this position and serve the community I care so deeply about,” said Jones. “The Moshannon Valley has tremendous potential, and I look forward to working with our partners to build on the strong foundation already in place. Together, we can continue to create opportunities that benefit businesses, families, and future generations.”
Jones succeeds former Executive Dirctor Stan LaFuria, who served the organization for 35 years with distinction and helped advance several major development projects during his
tenure. The MVEDP board expressed its gratitude for his leadership and contributions to the region.
“Our focus will remain steadfast on providing local businesses with the critical tools they need to thrive — including quality building space, ready-to-go business park sites, and competitive loan financing.
“I look forward to building on the Partnership’s legacy of creating jobs and enhancing the quality of life for all residents in the Moshannon Valley,” Jones said.
